Links for gaming on GNU/Linux

This area will be growing into an area regarding popular games that run great on GNU/Linux using Wine or natively.  There are, in fact, games written with GNU/Linux clients.  All of the Quake games for instance.  For now, it only contains links to my families addiction, World of Warcraft.  The following is a list of pages with loads of material geared towards helping both new and veteran pfile:///var/www/GNULinux-Gaming.htmllayers gain the needed knowledge to make your game time more enjoyable.  Enjoy!

Greetings and welcome to our World of Warcraft page.  version 0.1

*** Edit: 7/8/08 ***
These links are stale, most work but this page needs reworking badly.
Hope to have a more concise page with links to WineHQ and other sites soon.

These websites have lots of information about quests, gear sets, reputation, ingame items, zones, and even maps of the instances. They are my main source of information so I am sure you will find lots of answers here.

The UI loadout that I am using is: FuBar 3.0 and the FuBar addons PetFu, QuestsFu, PerformanceFu, LocationFu, ClockFu, AmmoFu, and GarbageFu.  With X-Perl Unit Frames, Tom Tom, Light Headed, Bagnon, Bartender3 and the Cartographer.

You install these into /Interface/Addons directory inside the directory your World of Warcraft game is installed into.  Under normal circumstances this will be in your home area, and will be:

  .wine/drive_c/Program Files/World Of Warcraft

Notice the period ( . ) in front of '.wine', this makes the directory hidden.  You will have to use the 'see hidden files' option in your graphical file browser or use the -a flag if you are working in a terminal window.

Always read the authors notes on how these mods work and how to make your own personal adjustments to them.  Most every UI I have found has a simple READme.txt included in the files so please READ them.  Each persons prefers to customize their own screen so take some time and make your game whatever you want it to look like.

**Please make sure that you download the correct version# to go along with the game client, as some UI's are not always updated.  So use at your own risk.
